The Appalachian Telemark Association (ATA) is a group of free-heel skiers promoting Telemark skiing through events, workshops, and races at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, PA. As part of the Western PA Ski Council, ATA members also enjoy access to various ski-related activities and social events.

17th Annual Telepalooza: A Celebration of Telemark Skiing at Seven Springs

Telepalooza 2024 – Ski with PSIA National Demo Team members Jim Shaw and Keith Rodney as well as PSIA Eastern Telemark Examiners Bruce Hennessey, Don Sensenig, Jay Nation, Shawn Riggle

Get ready to free your heel and embrace the thrill at the 17th annual Telepalooza, a two-day festival dedicated to the art of Telemark skiing! Scheduled for January 6 and 7, 2024, at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, this event promises an unforgettable experience with comprehensive Telemark instruction, après-ski parties, auctions, and an array of prizes.

World-Class Instruction and Celebrations

This year’s Telepalooza is particularly special as it hosts both PSIA National Telemark Demo Team members, Jim Shaw of Winter Park, Colorado, and Keith Rodney of Mount Snow, Vermont. They will be joined by numerous PSIA East Telemark Examiners, including Bruce Hennessey, Don Sensenig, Jay Nation, Shawn Riggle, and more. With such an impressive lineup of experts, attendees are sure to receive top-notch instruction and insights into the telemark turn.

Cost and Registration

  • Single Day: $90 for members, $100 for non-members
  • Both Days: $135 for members, $150 for non-members The price includes clinics, après-ski food, and soft drinks, with a cash bar available for adult beverages. All proceeds from the event will benefit ATA’s loaner equipment program and the ATA Jim Kapp Memorial Scholarship fund. Early registration is highly encouraged for planning purposes, and day-of registrations will be accepted.

Location and Schedule

The festival will take place at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort, nestled in the scenic mountains of Pennsylvania. Check-in and registration will occur from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM in the Maple Room of the ski lodge, with on-snow activities starting at 9:00 AM each day.

Loaner Gear and Membership

The ATA maintains a collection of loaner gear, including boots, skis, and bindings, available for members to use at no cost. This includes 8 new pairs of Scarpa TX Comp boots and 22 Designs OutlawX NTN bindings, along with a variety of donated skis. To reserve equipment and access discounted rates for Telepalooza, participants are encouraged to join ATA, with seasonal memberships available for individuals and families.

Clinics for All Skill Levels

Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced Telemarker, there will be clinics tailored to every skill level, running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM each day. Attendees are free to switch groups at any time to ensure the best learning experience.

Après-Ski Parties and Auctions

The fun continues off the slopes in the Matterhorn Room, located on the third level of the main lodge. Here, participants can enjoy food, soft drinks, and a cash bar, along with tons of swag giveaways and auctions, thanks to generous sponsors. The festivities will kick off at 5:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday, offering a lively end to each day.
