Scufoneda 2027: The 30th Anniversary of Val di Fassa’s Legendary Telemark Festival

Scufoneda returns to the Italian Dolomites from Wednesday, March 10 to Sunday, March 14, 2027. This is the festival’s 30th anniversary edition, bringing hundreds of telemark skiers, freeriders, and mountain lovers to Val di Fassa for five days of skiing, tradition, and celebration.

Organized by the Scufons del Cogo association from Moena, Scufoneda is much more than a ski event. It is a gathering of people who share a love for snow, nature, friendship, and skiing beyond the usual boundaries.

A Legendary Dolomites Festival

Scufoneda celebrates both telemark and freeride skiing in the spectacular landscape of Val di Fassa. Around 400 people usually join the weekend, including free-heel skiers and powder enthusiasts from Italy and across Europe.

The festival’s spirit is easy to understand: ski hard, explore the mountains, test new gear, meet old and new friends, and enjoy the Dolomites after a day on the snow.

Festival Base Camps

Scufoneda takes place across several iconic locations in Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme:

  • Moena — the cultural hub and historic base of the festival
  • Passo San Pellegrino — the central “Scufons” test village
  • Alpe Lusia / Bellamonte — cruising slopes and clinic grounds

This mix of locations gives participants plenty of terrain to explore. Whether you are looking for fresh lines, technique clinics, or a relaxed day on the slopes, there is something for everyone.

What to Expect at the XXX Edition

The 30th-anniversary celebration combines professional mountain instruction with deeply rooted Alpine traditions. The programme includes ski experiences for experts, freeride tours with mountain guides, and clinics for advanced telemark skiers led by national FISI Co.Scu.Ma. instructors.

At the Scufons Village on Passo San Pellegrino, visitors can test the latest free-heel bindings, boots, and skis from leading specialized brands. Meanwhile, the Dolomiti Moena Ski School offers free beginner lessons and gear try-outs for all ages.

The Famous Vintage Parade

One of Scufoneda’s most iconic moments is the Vintage Ladin Skier Parade. The Scufons dress in early 20th-century traditional Ladin clothing and ski down the slopes on original wooden skis, using single leather-strap bindings and wooden poles.

It is a unique celebration of mountain heritage, local culture, and the history of skiing in the Dolomites. For many visitors, this parade is one of the main reasons to experience Scufoneda at least once.

Après-Ski and Hut Culture

Every day ends with the same Scufoneda spirit: good food, good company, and plenty of celebration. The programme includes mountain hut dinners, local Dolomite specialties, wine pairings, and late-night music.

People come to Scufoneda to ski, learn, and test equipment. However, they also come for the atmosphere — the friendships, the stories, and the feeling of being part of a special mountain community.
