For ski Coaches and Judges Seminar telemark presentation in Truskavets.
From September 13-15, 2024, a significant event for the Ukrainian skiing community took place in Truskavets, at the “365” hotel. Despite the challenging circumstances the country faces due to the ongoing war, ski coaches and judges remain committed to preparing the next generation of athletes. This seminar highlighted their resilience and dedication to the sport, as they continue training young skiers at the start of a new season.
One of the most anticipated moments of the seminar was the telemark presentation led by Oleksii Duma. Oleksii, a passionate advocate for telemark skiing, offered an insightful presentation on the history of skiing, with a special focus on the evolution of telemark. As telemark skiing continues to gain popularity across the globe, understanding its roots provides valuable context to both newcomers and seasoned skiers alike.
Duma’s session delved into the origins of telemark skiing, its development over the centuries, and how it has grown into the dynamic discipline we see today. Coaches and judges attending the seminar not only gained historical insights but also explored how telemark’s flexibility, technique, and style continue to influence modern skiing practices.
In these difficult times for Ukraine, the resilience of the skiing community is an inspiring testament to the power of sport. Even in the face of adversity, the coaches and judges of Ukraine remain committed to fostering a strong future for skiing. The seminar was not just an opportunity to sharpen their skills but also to stand together in solidarity as they continue to push the boundaries of the sport they love.
Special thanks are extended to Ihor Lapikov, President of the Association of Professional Ski Instructors of Ukraine (APSIU), for organizing the seminar. Appreciation also goes to the Bukovytsia Ski Resort and Hotel 365 for their warm hospitality towards the participants.
This seminar stands as a symbol of hope, continuity, and the enduring spirit of the Ukrainian skiing community. For those who attended, it was an invaluable experience, both educationally and emotionally, as they prepare for the 2024-2025 ski season.
