Telemark Offpiste from scratch 2024
ÖTC is thrilled to announce its foundational course for those looking to venture into backcountry skiing and Telemark Offpiste adventures. “Offpist från grunden 2024” is scheduled to take place in the stunning Bydalsfjällen from January 26th to 28th, 2024. This course serves as an ideal primer for the season’s regular off-piste trip, Free Heel Fiesta, offering participants a solid grounding in top touring and off-piste techniques.
General Information
Participants are welcomed to Höglekardalens Semesterby for an immersive weekend starting Friday afternoon, January 26th. Detailed information and keys will be provided by Martin Hellberg upon registration closure. With Bydalen’s pristine snow conditions, participants are in for a thrilling and educational skiing experience.
Course Layout Telemark Offpiste
The course takes full advantage of Bydalen’s ski facilities, utilizing both lifts and ski skins to navigate the area. Participants will engage in tours on Saturday and Sunday, exploring the open mountains and forested areas typical of Bydalen’s landscape. The course is geared towards teaching participants how to choose their path upwards and carve their line downwards, with a focus on adapting to various parts of the terrain.
Who Can Participate?
This foundational course is open to anyone with:
- Little or no experience in ski touring.
- Average physical fitness and stamina.
- The ability to ski in various snow and weather conditions.
- Own skins, poles with larger baskets, and touring bindings.
- Basic understanding of avalanche safety and precautions.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own transceiver, shovel, probe, or avalanche backpack. However, if the majority lack this equipment, the tours will be organized in avalanche-safe areas.
Accommodation and Meals
The package includes two nights of self-catering accommodation in Höglekardalens Semesterby adjacent to the Dromliften. Participants will enjoy full board from Saturday breakfast to Sunday afternoon tea, with lunches provided as packed meals for the mountain excursions. Dietary needs can be specified upon registration.
Pricing
The course is priced at 2800 kr, covering accommodation, meals, and lift tickets. Discounts are available for those who already have a lift ticket or who prefer to participate in day tours only.
Extended Stay and Day Visits
For those wishing to extend their stay, Bydalsfjällen offers a special price for an additional package that includes a night’s stay on Thursday and a lift ticket for Friday. Day visitors can choose a reduced price option which includes the ski school and lunch for both days.
