On February 7–8, 2025, Trillevallen in Jämtland will host the Telemark World Cup, marking the first time in over ten years that Sweden will welcome this prestigious event. Over two days, the world’s top telemark skiers will compete in thrilling Classic Sprint races, promising an unforgettable spectacle for both enthusiasts and newcomers to the sport.
A Major Opportunity for Sweden
The event, organized by Svenska Skidförbundet, is a landmark occasion for Swedish telemark skiing. It offers local athletes the chance to compete before an enthusiastic home crowd while raising awareness of telemark skiing in Sweden.
“Hosting World Cup races at home is incredibly meaningful for us. It creates an invaluable opportunity to grow the sport and showcase it to new audiences,” said Pernilla Bonde, Secretary General of Svenska Skidförbundet.
Strong Performances and High Hopes
Sweden’s national team enters the competition following a successful 2023–24 season. Key athletes include Olle Collberg, who secured a second-place finish last season and now serves as both a competitor and head coach, and Alvin Noaksson, known for his consistent top-four results.
“Competing at home again feels amazing! The last time I raced a World Cup in Sweden, I was just starting out. Now, I’m more experienced and incredibly motivated. My goal is another podium finish,” shared Collberg.
The team also includes rising stars Karin Abrahamsson and Vile Noaksson, both coming off career-best seasons. Together, they aim to make a strong impression and bring telemark skiing into the spotlight.
Trillevallen – A Historic Venue
Located 30 minutes from Åre, Trillevallen is steeped in alpine tradition, dating back to 1939. The Classic Sprint races will take place on Ripbranten, a demanding 462-meter course with a 153-meter vertical drop. Trillevallen is renowned for its suitability for all levels of skiing, making it an ideal venue for hosting world-class competitions.
Sandra Landén, Hotel Manager and Event Coordinator for Trillevallen, emphasized the importance of the event:
“Telemark holds a special place in my heart, and bringing the World Cup to Trillevallen feels like a perfect match. We’re thrilled to welcome the world’s top athletes and hope to make this an annual tradition.”
A Spectator-Friendly Event
The Classic Sprint discipline, with its combination of giant slalom, jumps, velodrome turns, and skating, promises to deliver high-energy action. Spectators can look forward to cheering on athletes in one of the sport’s most dynamic and audience-friendly formats.
