FONNA Telemark Camp 2025: A New Beginning on the Glacier and a Celebration for the Telemark Community
Telemark enthusiasts, get ready! Despite the challenges of the past year and the closure of Visit Fonna AS, the Folgefonna Glacier is on its way back—and preparations for FONNA Telemark Camp 2025 are in full swing. Scheduled for June 20–23, 2025, this event promises an inspiring mix of skiing, mountain adventures, and a vibrant sense of community.

A New Era Begins: Welcome Fonna Sport AS
Following the bankruptcy of Visit Fonna AS in autumn 2024, a group of passionate individuals joined forces with Hordaland Skikrets and Agder/Rogaland Skikrets to establish Fonna Sport AS—a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing summer snow sports at Folgefonna Glacier.
The organization is now in discussions with the estate administrator to take over key equipment and lift systems, aiming to kick off preparations for the 2025 season as early as May. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the glacier, built on values of community, sustainability, and sporting excellence.

Bjørnar Neteland
“We are laying the foundation for a sustainable, safe, and inclusive snow-sports future at Folgefonna,” says co-founder Bjørnar Neteland. “If you have ideas or want to contribute—call us. Folgefonna means a lot to many people, and together we can bring it back.”
Why FONNA Remains a Unique Destination
The Folgefonna Glacier has long been a cherished hub for summer skiing and mountain recreation. Its modern facilities, new snowfarming system, and breathtaking scenery make it an ideal place for both athletes and tourists. With its well-known race training calendar and increasingly flexible lift pass system, the glacier continues to offer world-class skiing experiences—even in the face of climate challenges.
Activities for All Ages and Skill Levels
FONNA Telemark Camp 2025 will offer a rich program for skiers and non-skiers alike, including:
-
Telemark skiing sessions and coaching
-
Guided glacier hikes
-
Snowshoeing and sledding

Whether you’re a seasoned skier or simply want to explore the beauty of Norway’s summer snow, there’s something for everyone.
Flexible Lift Passes for Different Lifestyles
FONNA’s smart ticket system is designed with all types of visitors in mind:

-
Tourist Day Card (12:00–18:00) – for relaxed afternoon skiing

This thoughtful approach ensures access and affordability for families, athletes, and adventure travelers.
A Haven for Motorhome Travelers
Those arriving with motorhomes will find mid-week parking spaces with stunning views—offering a peaceful and unique way to experience the glacier away from weekend crowds.
A Vision for the Future
Fonna Sport AS isn’t just focused on 2025. Their vision includes a long-term strategy to reestablish Folgefonna as a leading hub for all snow sports—alpine, Telemark, freeski, snowboard, and cross-country—while remaining open and welcoming to the general public.
In the short term (1–3 years), the focus will be on clubs and training groups, completing the snowmaking system, and improving facilities for Nordic skiing. In the longer term (5–10 years), the organization aims to explore new transport options up the glacier, possibly including a new lift reaching 700 meters higher.
Their approach is firmly grounded in collaboration with nature, putting safety first while planning for a sustainable snow experience for future generations.
