A Weekend of Telemark Triumphs
This past weekend (9-11 febryary 2024), the Varingskollen ski resort was alive with the spirit of competition as it hosted the FIS Telemark Sprint and Parallel Sprint races. Organized by Bækkelagets Sportsklub and The Norwegian Ski Federation, the events drew a crowd of enthusiastic fans and world-class athletes.
Women’s Sprint Event: A Showcase of Speed and Skill
The women’s sprint event was a thrilling display of athleticism and precision. Augustine Carliez from France led the pack with a final time of 1:37.39, closely followed by Norway’s Kaja Bjørnstad Konow, who finished with a time difference of just 0.59 seconds. The competition was fierce, with the top contenders pushing their limits to secure a podium finish.
Men’s Sprint: An Intense Race to the Finish
In the men’s sprint, Elie Nabot from France secured a commanding lead with an impressive time of 1:28.21, signaling his prowess on the slopes. Antoine Bouvier, also from France, followed closely behind, with Alexis Page securing a respectable third place.
Parallel Sprint Finals: Head-to-Head Excitement
The parallel sprint finals brought an extra level of excitement as skiers went head-to-head. Goril Strøm Eriksen from Norway emerged victorious, with a final time of 1:09.57 in the women’s category, edging out Kaja Bjørnstad Konow. In the men’s final, Elie Nabot continued his winning streak, taking first place with a time of 1:03.79, while Alexis Page finished second.
Celebrating the Athletes and Organizers
The event was a testament to the dedication of the athletes and the hard work of the organizers. Varingskollen provided the perfect backdrop for this thrilling event, just 30 minutes from Oslo. With its six alpine slopes and two terrain parks, the resort offered a fantastic venue for competitors and spectators alike.
